A soundtrack for a live cine concert screening with Frederik Murnau's 1931 film Tabu. Shot in Tahiti, this was the first live soundtrack performance that i attempted, in 1995. I have subsequently performed with this film all over the world and it remains one of my favourites. Tabu gave me an excuse to use my knowledge of Hawaiian Slack Key and Lap Steel guitar playing and to mix it with electronic music. My aim was to make a soundtrack as contemporary as the film was when it was released in 1931.I have performed it so many times that improvisation is now a large part of a live screening.
